Privacy policy

SideQuest Co is a small 3D printing studio in Alberta, Canada. We sell through this website and through Etsy. This page explains what we collect when you shop with us, who we have to share it with to get a parcel to your door, and how to ask us to delete it.
The short version: we collect what an order needs and nothing else, we never see your card number, and we don't sell anything about you to anyone.
What we collect
When you place an order
To take payment and ship a parcel we collect your name, email address, shipping address, and what you bought. Payment is handled by Stripe on their own checkout page. Your card number never reaches us and we cannot see it; we receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded, the last four digits, and the card's country.
When you browse
We record anonymous usage: which pages and products were viewed, what was added to a cart, and whether a visit became an order. This uses a random identifier that lasts until you close the tab. It is not tied to your name, and we do not store your IP address — only the country your browser reports, so we know whether to quote Canadian or US prices.
We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (see below). Ad personalisation and cross-device tracking are switched off.
What stays in your browser
Your cart and your currency choice are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data clears them.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page to detect fraud. Blocking cookies in your browser will still let you browse and add to a cart; it may stop checkout working.
Who we share it with
Only the companies needed to complete your order:
- Stripe processes the payment and stores the card details we never see.
- Chit Chats and the delivering carrier receive your name and address to print the label and deliver the parcel. Chit Chats passes parcels to a local carrier for the last leg: USPS in the United States, and usually Dragonfly, GSM or Canada Post within Canada.
- Customs authorities receive a declaration for international parcels: your address, what is inside, and its value. This is a legal requirement, not a choice.
- Google Analytics receives the anonymous usage data described above.
We do not sell your information, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. If you order through Etsy instead, Etsy's own privacy policy governs that order and we receive your details from them.
We email you about your order: a receipt from Stripe, and a shipping confirmation with tracking from us. We don't run a marketing list, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from. If we ever start one it will be opt-in.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for six years. That isn't a preference — the Canada Revenue Agency requires businesses to retain sales records for six years from the end of the tax year they relate to. Anonymous browsing data is kept for up to two years.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email shop@sidequestco.ca @shopsidequestco @side.quest.co and we'll respond within 30 days.
We can delete your browsing data on request. We can't delete an order record inside the six-year window described above, because we are required to keep it, but we can remove you from anything that isn't a tax record.
To opt out of Google Analytics entirely, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on, or use your browser's tracking protection. The site works either way.
Children
This shop is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and payment happens on Stripe's systems, which are PCI compliant. Order data lives on a server we control, in Canada. We're a two-person studio rather than a bank, so we keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
